Advertising Budget For A New Make Money Online Blog

July 28th, 2008 | Posted in blog marketing

I love paparazzi, great free way to advertise my lovely pink watch !

If your main goal is to make money online you should be aware at the very beginning that using mega advertising methods is not advisable . You should be focusing mainly on your readers enjoyment while at the same time providing them with useful content.

You have to make sure that you do not go overboard trying to start your blog with a bang by setting up a huge advertising budget. You will find it hard to gain credibility if you move too fast by plastering your site with flashy ads and pop up windows. Your site will have a parasitic air to it and readers will leave quickly.

Since it takes time and effort to build genuine traffic, go slowly and try not to spend lots on advertising. Especially, be wary of amazing programs that cost big time dollars. Money will trickle in and start to grow as your traffic level grows. If you invest in the beginning in expensive techniques, you might just be throwing good money out the window.

Advice and methods for cheap or free advertising are outlined in my blog. So making money online doesn’t have to be financed greatly in the early stages. Make sure that you set a budget for yourself in the beginning of each month for advertising and do not go over that amount. As your site starts generating more traffic, then you can safely increase the advertising amount since the site will be starting to generate its own revenue.

Just ensure that you can pumping out quality posts as often as your schedule will allow. That is the most important aspect of a money making blog . However, a small budget for advertising is ok. For example, just 10-20 dollars a month for contests can pull in lots of traffic. Some people may only visit to enter the contest, while others will become regular comment contributors and visitors.

My personal plan is to reinvest all of the revenue back into the site for the first six months. I will continue, in the long run, to have contests to keep the momentum going and to grow traffic.

“Some people may only visit to enter the contest, while others will become regular comment contributors and visitors”

I think you are perfectly right in saying that.I remember sites that I found via google search as well as by contests[if the blog/site is worthwhile].

A tip for those who are in the idea of starting contests in their blog.

Put it as a condition to subscribe via email. So,even if they don’t visit your site frequently,if you post an interesting article/post,they will come and stop by. :)
