Be careful when you purchase a 4 letter dot com domain name. They do not all have the same value. Some people believe that they are currently valued at  least $250 even if the letters are all consonants. I can personally tell you that this is not the case. I purchased one today that is void of vowels. I plan on keeping it in my portfolio. I will just keep it as is and hopefully the value will increase over time. Just remember, do not spend a lot on domain names believing that the value will increase. Keep your portfolio diversified.

All of the 4 letter domain names have been registered at one time or another. It is next to impossible to luck into registering one without buying from someone. The ones that are due to expire are being watched closely.

Will the value keep climbing ? Very hard to say, but the supply is limited. As more and more companies have an online presence, the demand will augment. Presently, it still is possible to buy a four letter domain name for around $35 if it is just a combination of consonants only. If you add even one vowel to the mix, then the market value is higher.

Speculators are starting to buy up 4 letter dot net domains. They feel that the value for dot net 4-letter will match the present value of the dot com 4-letter in about 3 years. If you look back at posts that people were making in 2005, you will notice that lots of comments warned people not to invest in 4-letter dot com domain names unless they were an actual dictionary word or were easily pronounced.

You still should be cautious when buying any domain name. There is always some risk involved. If you get stuck with dot net names that do not appreciate for 5 or so years, you will have a loss since you had to pay for the registration fee during that period of time.

Are you starting to add dot net 4-letter domains to your portfolio ? Do you have 4-letter dot com domains in your portfolio presently ?
