Another way to generate strong backlinks that I have been experimenting with is via squidoo. You should check it out. I do also have ads in my subheader! ;) So at the same moment when I placed them there my PageRank went down on 1 step. I have seen one blogger who was just using all existing inappropriate words like: f*ck in his posts but he got quit high search results for his basic keywords. Also one of my fellow blogger speaks a lot about this issues - I'll ask him to make a post about it.
