Setting Up A Simple HTML Template for Your Smaller Websites

August 11th, 2008 | Posted in portfolio

I have just decided on a perfect niche for a website : How much I hate It when a perfect stranger shoves a cellphone in my face.

Cheap Flights to Johannesburg Website

Smaller websites that are easy to manage and require almost zero maintenance strengthen the backbone of your domain portfolio. After being aged properly, they will be financially self-sustaining. Some of them will even earn more than enough to cover their future registration fees. The more websites that you have that generate even a tiny profit, the higher the total amount of your income online.

You have to develop a system for setting up your smaller highly niched websites. After you have registered an adequate domain name based on what the site’s main focus will be, you should start to structure the site. You can use a highly reduced format of a wordpress theme, or an html website template. Free templates that are easy to find. Search and view a few and pick 4-5 that you like. Then download a software program that will allow to edit the template on the fly. One that is currently free on the internet is KompoZer . Just open one of your templates into your html software program and adjust the structure as need be. Change the header image to suit your site and you now have the structure for your present mini-site.

Now comes the fun part; writing the content for the site. It is important that you do lots of research for your articles and ensure that they are unique. A total of ten is perfect for a smaller website. Each article should be around 500 words.

Now add the links to your content into your main website page. All that is left to do is to add your ads and the site is ready to be launched. Write 5 or so unique content filled articles to submit to article submission sites. Also, add a link to your site on the appropriate directories and forums. Now allow your site to age. Websites are like a good wine, the older they are, the better they taste. If certain parts of your articles are becoming obsolete, update the information on a timely basis.

The above method is the one that I am currently using and it helps me to stay organized and on-track to developing a nice portfolio.

Do you prefer to use a wordpress theme for your niche websites ? Which program do you currently use to edit html files ?

Hi Goofblogger, I just came across your blog here, and I found this post very interesting. Do you have another small site? You bring up some very interesting steps that one could or should use when setting up a new site. I will definitely be back to read more of your post, I find them easy to understand. Which isn’t that what we should provide our readers? A post that is interesting and that everyone can learn something from it. Great job. Thanks
