Include Small Websites To Diversify Your Domain Portfolio
I know, we could sell funky sunglasses to diversify our income !
Blogs are wonderful for generating a nice income after the traffic has increased. Compared to html based smaller websites, the short term profits can be much higher. What about in the long run ? I am not too sure.
Blogs are very finicky. If you stop updating then the income starts to diminish. However, once you have about 100 posts under your belt, traffic will be more constant and easily grown. More blogs will create inbound links if your content is good. Others that visit these blogs will have a doorway to your blog. Also, search engine take blogs more seriously when they are aged and filled with lots of unique content.
Pointing out the newest most wonderful methods of making money online is important in this niche. You have to keep up to date on these budding techniques. Nevertheless, make sure that you maintain a mix of those types of posts with posts that will have relevance into the future. The longevity of your blog will increase. I have noticed that if you do a search for certain key phrases on search engines, a lot of tiny websites appear at the top of the list mixed with large blogs that have existed for 2-3 years. The small websites high on search results are sometimes 6-7 years old. Websites seem to last longer. The burn-out factor with blogging makes it harder to continue posting for years. I am not saying that blogging is not a good idea. It can be very profitable, but you have to keep your portfolio of sites diversified to protect your income.
It is never a good idea to depend solely on one form of income. If that source disappears, so does all of your income. You have to set-up numerous ways of generating income by blogging and developing other websites at the same time.
A good plan is to refresh your html skills. Find a few simple wordpress themes that can easily altered to the format of a simple website. A theme can be quickly reduced to the look of a static webpage just be removing the unnecessary php files and reducing the sidebar contents to strictly the list of posts. Experiment a little bit each day. Search past sales records and take note of what makes a small website sell and how it was promoted.
Is your domain portfolio well-diversified ? Do you have sites that generate a small income, but require low maintenance ?
