How long Does It Take to Get High Traffic To Your Blog

I hate getting stuck in a stupid traffic jam !

I have been studying the traffic growth pattern of many blogs over the last week or so. I was trying to figure out the length of time it takes for a blog to really take off. It seems to be around 3-4 months before lots of organic traffic flows in. Now, that doesn’t mean that you can sit on your fanny for the first three months. You have to be consistently posting and marketing your site during that period of time.

Any time that you have the chance to mention your blog, do so. Of course, only where it is relevant. Spamming is not a good policy. It creates a bad reputation for your blog. There are many methods of spreading the word that are free. Always add a link to your blog in any email that you send out and get involved in forums and directories. After awhile, marketing your blog will become second nature. You will notice later on that the efforts that you had made months previously,  are still affecting your traffic in a positive way.

After you start getting lots of organic traffic, keep pushing forward, don’t become lackadaisical. At some point you will become frustrated because your traffic is not continuing to increase. When that happens, just brainstorm and implement a new way of creating interest in your blog. I have found that contests bring in lots of visitors. Some may not return, but some will turn into repeat visitors. You can still enter my present contest that ends in 19 days. Free money is up for grabs and it only takes a minute or two to enter.

When did you notice that you were starting to get lots of organic traffic to your blog ? How old is you blog and do you market it consistently ?

I received organic traffics around 3-4 months but on my other sites I got it in a short time probably keyword could be a great factor, it depends on what post I guess.

For my travel blog, organic traffic came after one month plus. It was a frustration at the beginning, but I just kept on writing without so much marketing. It’s blog for fun, partly. :P

rhyan : Thanks for the information rhyan. Keyword popularity probably does have a lot to do with organic traffic.

Is : My blog will be one month old on the 16th. Some hits from the search engines are starting to trickle in. It is surprising to learn which keywords and phrases lead to a hit. Great to hear that organic traffic is increasing for your site. Keep up the good work.

sapimoto : If you cannot have a face-to-face visit with your blog visitor, the next best thing to have them as regular readers. Come back soon and stay for a visit.

wiehanne : Thanks for the comment wiehanne. Your personal case just proves once again that consistent posting is extremely important for the health of a site.
Also, if you are enjoying updating your blog, you will remain motivated to continue.

It’s also pretty easy to jump start the traffic a bit by using Entrecard and other traffic exchanges before you start getting search engine traffic.

it usually takes a 3-4months for the search engine traffic to kick in but factors like Posting rate , Key words , getting popular in social media can make it quick.

bantingboy : Contests are great. It increases your list of RSS subscribers and cause people to want to explore your blog even further.

ArkieRN : Just keep posting and exploring different ways that are free to advertise your site and the traffic will build.

Nishadha : 3-4 months is about the average time frame. I am starting to get some search engine traffic. I started this blog about 6 weeks ago.

Hintswen : I know that it can be discouraging when the traffic doesn’t seem to that organic. The best solution is to continue to add content and great inbound strong links. Also, try to check your statistics just once a day, perhaps in the morning. I used to check constantly instead of working on linking building or something more beneficial.

videoay : You are welcome, come back again for another visit.

Steve H : Thanks for indicating that sometimes it can take 6 months to see an increase in traffic. Eventually it does happen if you work on it.

Good comments by all. Blogging is a non-ending commitment and requires a passion so you don’t get bored. I use a bookmarking product called, socialboomarker.com to help generate traffic for each and every article I post.

Anyone else using this? It really seems to help build interest in the search engines.

I run a male interest blog, its only been live for about a month and the traffic is slowly increasing, i get about 20-30 new visits a day at the moment, and i have 14 subscribers, I think its just a case of keep writing good content regularly and people will come.

That’s great traffic so far. Adding lots of great content and posts will increase your traffic greatly. Try to add some backlinks to your posts as well, that helps to rank for keyword phrases.
